Summary

Work with our most vulnerable children. Be part of something that truly matters.
We are looking for passionate, skilled, and compassionate Social Workers to join our Children with Disabilities Service.
This is more than just a job. It’s an opportunity to build meaningful relationships and make a lasting difference in the lives of children with complex needs and their families.
If you believe every child deserves to be seen, heard, and supported to thrive, we want to hear from you.
About the Role
As a Social Worker within our Children with Disabilities Service, you will support children and young people with a wide range of additional needs, including complex disabilities and medical conditions.
In this rewarding frontline role, you will:
• Build strong, trusting relationships with children and their families
• Complete child-centred, strengths-based assessments
• Develop and review care and support plans that reflect each child’s voice and individual needs
• Work collaboratively with health, education, and multi-agency partners
• Support families to navigate challenges, access services, and build resilience
• Advocate for children to ensure they receive the right support at the right time
This is a role where your work has a real, visible impact, helping children to live safer, fuller, and more meaningful lives.
Our Approach
We are implementing the Families First Partnership Programme, bringing together locality-based family help teams, safeguarding teams, and Multi-Agency Child Protection Teams (MACPT).
Our practice is rooted in trauma-informed and systemic approaches, ensuring holistic and empathetic support for families. Social workers benefit from bespoke training, including:
• Trauma-informed practice
• Motivational interviewing
• Continuous professional development opportunities
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for Social Workers who are:
• Qualified and registered with Social Work England
• Experienced in working with children and families
(experience in disability is welcomed but not essential – we will support your development)
• Confident in having honest, compassionate, and respectful conversations
• Able to manage a complex caseload and work collaboratively across services
• Reflective, resilient, and emotionally intelligent
Most importantly, we want people who genuinely care — who see the child beyond the diagnosis, and who are patient, curious, and committed to making a difference.

Why Work With Us?
We recognise that this is demanding work, so we invest in supporting our staff as much as our families.
You’ll benefit from:
• Regular, meaningful supervision
• Manageable caseloads
• A strong learning culture with access to specialist disability training
• A supportive, team-focused environment
• Career development and progression opportunities
• Generous annual leave plus flexi leave (up to 16 days)
• Flexible and remote working options
• Modern working environments with free parking
• Social Work England registration paid by the council
• Access to local government benefits
Salary
Competitive salary depending on experience:
• Grade 8 (SCP 23–28): £34,434 – £39,152
• Grade 9 (SCP 27–31): £38,220 – £41,771
• Grade 10 (SCP 31–35): £41,771 – £48,072
Why This Work Matters
Children with disabilities and their families often face additional challenges in navigating systems and accessing support.
In this role, you will help ensure that:
• Their voices are heard
• Their needs are understood
• They receive the support they deserve
This is your chance to be part of something meaningful, challenging, and deeply rewarding.
