Summary
Route planning & optimisation
- Plan daily delivery routes for vehicles across multiple locations
- Use route planning software and systems to optimise routes based on distance, cost, and delivery windows
- Factor in traffic, weather, vehicle capacity, and delivery priorities
- Brief drivers on routes, schedules, and special delivery requirements
- Act as the link between drivers, warehouse, and customers
- Track deliveries in real time and ensure deadlines are met
- Adjust routes quickly in response to delays, breakdowns, or customer changes
- Provide delivery updates to customers and internal teams
- Resolve issues such as late deliveries or access problems
- Identify opportunities to reduce fuel costs and improve delivery efficiency
- Analyse route data and suggest improvements to operations
- Ensure routes comply with transport regulations and driver hours rules
- Maintain accurate records of routes, schedules, and performance
