Learning Support Assistant | Alternative Provision
Location: High Peak (SK23)
Pay: £100 - £120 per day
Contract: Long-Term to Permanent
Start Date: ASAP
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist alternative provision secondary school within a supportive Multi-Academy Trust in the High Peak area.
This small and nurturing setting supports students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and additional behavioural needs, providing a structured and inclusive environment where pupils are encouraged to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.
The role involves supporting students across a range of curriculum subjects, including Maths, English, Science, and other core learning areas, helping to build confidence, engagement, and academic progress.
- Work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to support students with additional learning and behavioural needs
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support across a range of subjects, including Maths, English, and Science
- Adapt learning materials and strategies to support individual student needs
- Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, focus, and classroom engagement
- Assist students with coursework, organisation, and differentiated learning activities
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and the SEN team to help inform support strategies
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a minimum Level 3 qualification (essential)
- Has experience supporting students with SEN or within an alternative provision setting (highly desirable)
- Demonstrates a patient, flexible, and resilient approach
- Is confident supporting learning across multiple subjects
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
