This is an exciting opportunity to join a large, dynamic and forward-thinking Acute Medicine service at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The Specialist Doctor in Acute Medicine will provide senior clinical input into the assessment, diagnosis and management of acutely unwell adult patients presenting via the Emergency Department and primary care. The post-holder will work across the Acute Medicine Unit (AMU) and the Urgent Medical Assessment Centre (UMAC/SDEC), supporting consultant-led ward rounds, acute admissions, Same Day Emergency Care activity, and ambulatory pathways.

The role is integral to the safe and effective delivery of front-door medicine within a high-volume service assessing approximately 500–600 emergency medical attendances per week. In addition to direct clinical care, the post-holder will supervise and support resident doctors and Advanced Nurse Practitioners, contribute to teaching and clinical governance, and play an active role in service development as the Acute Medicine footprint continues to expand. This post offers the opportunity to work within a stable, experienced consultant body in a teaching hospital environment, with structured support for professional development and CESR progression where appropriate.
