An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Locally Employed Doctor (LED) - Obstetrics & Gynaecology (ST1-2 equivalent) within the Maternity & Women's Services Directorate at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This post offers the opportunity to work within a busy, consultant-led Obstetrics & Gynaecology service, delivering high-quality care across obstetric and gynaecology pathways while developing clinical competencies aligned to early specialty training. The role is suitable for doctors seeking further experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, including future specialty training or CESR pathways.
The post holder will work as part of the junior Obstetrics & Gynaecology medical team, providing safe and effective care to women across inpatient, outpatient and emergency settings under appropriate supervision.
Duties include contributing to antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, supporting labour ward activity, and participating in the assessment and management of acute and elective gynaecology patients. The post holder will take part in daily ward rounds, multidisciplinary handovers and safety briefings, and will be expected to recognise clinical deterioration and escalate appropriately.
The role includes full participation in the junior Obstetrics & Gynaecology on-call rota, including nights, weekends and bank holidays, in line with Trust and departmental policies.

The post holder will provide clinical care across obstetrics and gynaecology services, including antenatal clinics, labour ward, postnatal wards, emergency gynaecology and early pregnancy services. They will assist in theatres and outpatient clinics as appropriate to experience and service need.
The role includes participation in clinical governance activities, audit and quality improvement, and engagement with mandatory training and departmental teaching. Although this is a non-training post, the post holder will be supported to develop competencies aligned to ST1-2 level and to maintain a professional development portfolio.
