SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: East Ham
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Monday - Friday
We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a mainstream secondary school in East Ham, supporting students within both mainstream classrooms and the school's Resource Provision (RP).
This rewarding role involves supporting students with a range of severe and complex additional needs, helping them to access education, develop independence, and feel supported within a positive and inclusive learning environment.
You may work with students who require support with:
- Non-verbal communication and speech and language development
- Mobility support, including wheelchair users
- Autism, including high sensory needs and emotional regulation challenges
- Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) methods, such as PECS, Makaton, communication boards, and voice-output devices
- Highly differentiated learning approaches, including sensory-based and life-skills-focused learning
This is a challenging yet highly rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. Previous SEN experience is desirable due to the complex needs of the students being supported.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
- Previous experience working within SEN or educational settings
- A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students and staff
