This Drama Teacher role offers a part-time maternity cover opportunity from June 2026 within a supportive secondary school setting. The Drama Teacher will deliver engaging and creative drama lessons that encourage confidence, collaboration, and self-expression. This role is ideal for a passionate Drama Teacher who enjoys inspiring students through performance and creative learning while working as part of a committed arts team.
Duties as Drama Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging Drama lessons in line with the curriculum
- Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment
- Encourage creativity, confidence, and collaboration through practical drama activities
- Support pupils’ performance, communication, and evaluative skills
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils with a range of abilities
- Use assessment and feedback to support pupil progress
- Prepare pupils for performances, presentations, or assessments where required
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the arts department
- Contribute to extracurricular drama activities where appropriate
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal Drama Teacher:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Drama at secondary level
- Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for drama and performance
- Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
- Ability to motivate and engage pupils of varying abilities
- Organised, creative, and reflective teaching approach
- Willingness to commit to a part-time maternity cover role
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
