Summary

SEN Level 2 Teaching Assistant Hours: Monday - Friday 8:20am - 3:20pm - 30 hours per week term time + teacher days only (39 weeks) Salary: Scale Points 5–6, £25,583–£25,989 per annum (Full-Time Equivalent). JOB OVERVIEW: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and skilled SEND Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at Uplands Infant School in Leicester. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about supporting children with a range of special educational needs, including communication, sensory, and social‑emotional needs. You will play a key role in delivering personalised support, implementing EHCP outcomes, and following guidance from external professionals. The successful candidate will work closely with the Class Teacher and SENCO to promote the child’s learning, wellbeing, and independence.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Working with class teachers to deliver high‑quality, inclusive teaching and learning. Providing 1:1 (where required) and small‑group support tailored to individual SEND needs. Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour plans, and sensory strategies. Using visuals, structured routines, and personalised resources. Supporting assessment, observation, and evidence gathering for SEND reviews. Maintaining a safe, calm, and positive environment for all learners. Accompanying pupils on trips and supporting transitions.

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above Experience supporting children with SEND (e.g. autism, SEMH, sensory needs). Willingness to undertake SEND‑specific training (e.g. Makaton, Zones of Regulation, Team Teach).A high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adultsThe ability to use relevant technology/equipment A nurturing approach
