Are you a compassionate, resilient and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? I am currently recruiting for a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis within a friendly and inclusive primary school in the Hall Green area.

The school prides itself on its inclusive ethos, ensuring all pupils are given the right support to thrive both academically and personally.Staff work collaboratively to create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment, and there is a strong emphasis on early intervention and tailored support for children with additional needs. You will be joining a supportive team of teachers, SEN staff, and leadership who are experienced in working with children requiring high levels of care.

Your new role

  • Providing 1:1 support for a child with additional needs
  • Supporting with personal care, including nappy changing
  • Based within Early Years / KS1 (Nursery, Reception, or Year 1)
  • Supporting a child who is non-verbal and requires a high level of care and consistency
  • Managing challenging behaviour using calm, patient, and structured approaches
  • Assisting with feeding and toileting routines
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support

What you'll need to succeed

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
  • Experience supporting children with SEN (e.g., ASD, communication needs)
  • Comfortable with personal care responsibilities
  • Patient, nurturing, and emotionally resilient
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies
  • A team player with a genuine passion for making a difference
