Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Playgroup Assistant to join our Pre-school team -
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (term time only) plus possible relief cover
8:45am – 12:00pm with additional hours to cover lunch club when necessary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and committed individual who is passionate about working with children.
Responsibilities:
1. Providing experiences through the Foundation Phase
2. Carrying out recording of observations and assessments in line with the
Foundation Phase
3. Setting up prior to the session and ensuring that health and safety
requirements are met
4. To assist with planning, preparation and delivery of activities which meet the
children’s individual development needs
5. To prepare snacks in accordance with Health and Hygiene Policy and Food
Safety Policy and attend Food Safety course as required
6. To assist with sourcing resources for term activities
7. To participate with shopping rota
8. To maintain confidentiality at all times
9. To administer first aid and attend first aid training when necessary (3 yearly).
10. To attend training courses to improve skills and knowledge wherever possible.
11. To gain recognised qualifications (NVQ/Diploma) in Childcare, Play, Learning
and Development.
12. From time-to-time and as necessary meet out of hours to complete mandatory
paperwork (children’s folders etc)
13. To attend staff meetings and committee meetings where necessary and
support and assist with fundraising activities.
14. Any other duties which become apparent as professional development
continues.
NOTE: This position is initially for the period September 1st 2026 to July 20th 2027 and will be reviewed in July 2027
