GENERAL SUMMARY

Working as part of Celeros Operations Management team, the primary role of the Welding/Fabrication Supervisor is to manage the technical aspects of the welding/fabrication area to ensure compliance with applicable EN and ASME codes and act as the first line of management accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the weld/fabrication, pipe shop areas and others when required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Welding Technical Authority principal duties:

Completion of Procedure Qualification Records, Weld Procedure Specification and selection of appropriate weld consumables as required
Compilation and Issue of purchase requisitions for all welding consumables and welding qualification test materials
Co-ordination and supervision of welding qualification tests, seeking approval from third parties and issue reports upon completion of tests
Subject Matter Expert in relation to welding qualification and processes
Maintain qualified welders list and organise training and upgrading of welders in accordance with the requirements of the procedures and customer requirements
Control and issue of welding material
Maintain an overview of welding and fabrication operations to ensure compliance with procedures
Manage instrument and equipment calibration records and arrange for the calibration of instruments and equipment in accordance with the calibration policy instruction

Supervisor duties in addition to above:

Maintain a positive/safe working environment ensuring housekeeping is maintained at the highest standards
Lead and manage daily toolbox talks, production meetings, communicating all key messages including but not limited to safety moments, quality alerts and work schedules/priorities
Maintain and communicate data performance and information boards to colleagues, customers, and other managers from across the organisation
Drive positive KPI results, ensuring you hold true to our values including always doing the right thing
Be responsible for and manage a proactive and sustainable 5s culture within the cell
Take a positive approach to coaching, developing and performance managing team members when required
Ensure standard operating work procedures are implemented and always followed
Monitor/Control actual versus estimated operation times
Identify and implement operational improvements
Ensure productive work is allocated to team members in line with the weld areas plan/schedule and overarching business plan/forecast
Liaise with appropriate support functions (quality, engineering, inspection, planning, purchasing etc.) to resolve issues and any potential production constraints in a timely manner
Work to introduce improvement programs across areas of responsibility
Ensure start/stop and break times are always adhered to
Control of overtime working in line with production requirements
Confirm efficient material workflow within and between areas
Drive and own booking discipline within the team
Ensure self-inspection procedures are fully adhered to
Raise any quality concerns immediately
Conduct periodic audits and Gemba’s as required by EHS and Quality departments
Raise NCRs as and when required
Any other duties as deemed reasonable including carrying out ad hoc welding in the event of the Welding team being absent from work and/or meeting critical deadlines
Provide training and support to all Welding and Fabrication apprentices

Understand the performance and development planning process; supporting and managing your team through the process
Support your team throughout the year through regular conversations, tracking progress against objectives, managing any performance issues


EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Proven track record in building effective teams
Strong focus on delivery of output to achieve bottom line results
Strong execution skills, focused on driving their team to achieve improvement initiatives that positively affect our customer experience and the bottom line
Strong interpersonal skills; this will include managing conflict; setting standards
Having a strong range of skills to effectively manage the cell area; for example, the layout, maintaining health & safety, Environment, Quality standards and the flow within the cell
Time served welder or equivalent hands-on work experience in manufacturing environment (advantageous)


Welding Technical Authority

CWEng or European Welding Engineer certified or other formal qualification advantageous
Working knowledge and experience of ASME and EN weld procedures qualification, material specifications and welding processes
Working Knowledge of ASME Section II, EN and RCC-M materials
Able to meet the requirements as defined in ASME IX QG 106 and CUP QA Program
Ability to interface with other departments
