Job Title: Personal Assistant (PA) / Support Worker for Lucas (8, almost 9)
Location: Leasowe, Wirral (CH46)
Pay: £13 per hour
Hours: 3 hours per week initially, with potential to increase
Contract Type: Zero‑hours (flexible, mutually agreed shifts)
Start Date: As soon as possible, subject to DBS and references
About Lucas:
Lucas is an 8‑year‑old autistic child who thrives with calm, low‑demand support and predictable routines. He enjoys gaming (Roblox, Xbox, iPad, YouTube), sensory play, quiet spaces, outdoor walks, and activities that help him relax and have fun. He attends an independent specialist school out of borough, and his family are seeking a kind, patient person to support him at home and in the community.
Role Purpose:
To provide 1:1 support for Lucas, helping him access enjoyable activities safely and supporting his emotional and sensory regulation. The role also provides short breaks for his parents.
Main Duties:
• Support Lucas at home and during short local outings
• Help him engage in activities he enjoys in a calm, low‑pressure way
• Support transitions and reduce anxiety around changes
• Maintain a safe environment and follow risk‑reduction strategies
• Work collaboratively with parents to understand routines and support needs
• Keep brief notes for Direct Payments monitoring
• Follow safeguarding and confidentiality requirements
Essential Qualities:
• Patient, calm, and emotionally attuned
• PDA‑aware or willing to learn
• Understanding of autism and sensory needs
• Reliable and consistent
• Able to build trust gradually
Desirable:
• Experience supporting autistic children or young people
• Familiarity with sensory strategies and emotional regulation approaches
Other Information:
• Enhanced DBS required (funded by employer)
• Two references required
• Right to work in the UK
• No personal care required
• Driving not essential (family can drop off/pick up)
