Ashcourt Group is continuing to grow, and we’re looking for a dedicated Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our friendly finance team in Newton Aycliffe. About the Role
You’ll play a key part in supporting the Ashcourt (Durham & Tees Valley) business, taking ownership of day‑to‑day ledger activity while contributing to wider accounts tasks. This is a varied, hands‑on role where you’ll work closely with the Finance Manager and support the development of a junior colleague - making it ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility, structure, and teamwork!
Key Responsibilities
Day‑to‑day management of purchase ledgers, including inputting transactions, reconciling statements, and requesting missing information
Processing invoices, allocating payments, and supporting general accounts tasks
Building and maintaining strong working relationships with suppliers and client
Mentoring a finance apprentice, helping them develop skills and confidence within the team
Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
Reconciling intercompany ledgers monthly
Maintaining an organised and efficient filing system
Supporting ad‑hoc projects and wider finance initiatives
What You’ll Bring
A Full UK Driving Licence
Previous experience in an accounting or purchase ledger role
Strong IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
Excellent organisation, accuracy, and time‑management
Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
