About the Role

RecruitED People are currently recruiting dedicated and motivated Learning Mentors to support pupils within SEN schools, alternative provisions and mainstream educational settings across Birmingham and the West Midlands.

The role involves supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom, helping to remove barriers to learning, improve engagement and encourage positive behaviour and wellbeing.

This is an ideal opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and making a genuine difference within education. Which increasingly means helping students navigate attendance, behaviour, emotional regulation, low confidence, social pressures and occasionally basic human interaction skills that somehow vanished after lockdown. Schools are basically operating as educational triage centres at this point.

Supporting students on a one-to-one and small group basis
Building positive and professional relationships with pupils
Encouraging engagement, attendance and participation in learning
Supporting students with behavioural, emotional and social needs
Assisting teachers and pastoral teams with classroom support

Requirements
Experience working with children or young people preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Calm, patient and resilient approach
