Summary
We are hiring a skilled HGV Mechanic to join our workshop team in Peterlee. This role offers a great mix of maintaining our own fleet and working on a variety of commercial vehicles for our external customers.
Role Overview
* Job Title: HGV Mechanic / Technician
* Position: Full-time, Permanent
* Location: Peterlee
* Wage: £18.00 per hour (Basic annual equivalent approx. £36,500)
* Hours: 39 hours per week (Basic)
* Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
* Overtime: Available but strictly optional
Key Responsibilities
* Service, maintain, and repair both our internal fleet and diverse customer vehicles.
* Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults accurately across various brands.
* Prepare and present vehicles for annual MOT testing to DVSA standards.
* Complete all digital and paper service records and defect sheets accurately.
* Maintain high standards of customer service and workshop cleanliness.
Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent experience) or higher.
* Proven experience working as an HGV Mechanic or Technician.
* Diagnostic skills using modern vehicle diagnostic equipment (not essesntial).
* Class 1 or Class 2 entitlement is essential.
* Strong communication skills for occasional customer interaction.
