Pay Rate: £13.00 - £15.00 per hour (dependent on experience)
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established further education college in Greater Manchester for a skilled and dedicated Communication Support Worker (CSW) to join their team from September 2026.
This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), with a particular focus on learners who are Deaf or have hearing impairments.
The Role:
As a Communication Support Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring students can fully access learning by facilitating effective communication between learners and teaching staff.
Students may present with:
- Hearing impairments / Deaf learners
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Additional learning difficulties
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation in lessons
- Supporting students on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Adapting communication methods to suit individual learner needs
- Assisting with note-taking and clarification of lesson content
- Promoting student independence and inclusion within the classroom
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) - essential
- Previous experience working as a CSW or supporting Deaf learners in an educational setting
- A strong understanding of inclusive communication strategies
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach
