Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term (Agency Placement)
Pay Rate: £13.00 - £20.00 per hour (dependent on experience)

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-respected academic sixth form college in Marple, Manchester for a dedicated and skilled Communication Support Worker (CSW) to join their support team from September 2026.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting deaf and hearing-impaired students within an academic college environment.

The Role

As a Communication Support Worker, you will provide tailored communication support to students across a range of academic subjects, helping to ensure equal access to learning and full participation in college life.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing communication support for deaf and hearing-impaired students during lessons and college activities
- Using British Sign Language (BSL) to support communication between students and teaching staff
- Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and within group settings
- Assisting students with understanding lesson content, instructions, and coursework
- Promoting student independence, confidence, and engagement
- Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and wider support teams to meet individual student needs
- Encouraging a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Minimum Level 3 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification
- Previous experience working with deaf or hearing-impaired young people in an educational or support setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach
- The ability to build positive working relationships with students and staff
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
