Job Advert

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and seeks to appoint a Nature
Reserves Officer.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy Vale of York reserves team in East Yorkshire and play a key role helping to
manage some of our most iconic nature reserves including Askham Bog SSSI. As a key team member, you’ll assist the Living
Landscapes Manager, and you’ll lead the Reserves Assistant and many volunteers in delivering nature restoration and conservation
from Jeffrey Bog SSSI at Malton to our newest floodplain meadow site at Ryther. We have exciting challenges delivering CSHT
agreements for protecting Askham Bog SSSI and Wheldrake Ings NNR, and lowland heathlands to floodplain restoration.

We’d love to hear from you if you have experience of working in all aspects of land management, ecological field surveys and
practical volunteer management. You will enjoy a mix of being outdoors in all weathers and desk-based work including CMSi software
for planning work and reporting, SSSI consents and agri-environment agreements.

You’ll be proficient in IT and will have the ability to communicate with enthusiasm, tact and diplomacy, both in writing and
verbally. You will work with external graziers, tenants and neighbours so organisation, a common-sense approach to problem solving
and the ability to respond to changing circumstances at short notice are essential for success in this role. A full UK manual
driving licence will be essential for travelling to remote locations.

How to apply:

Please submit an up-to-date CV and supporting statement. When writing your supporting statement, please ensure you describe your
relevant knowledge, skills and experience aligned to the Person Specification within the Job Description. Please be aware that if
you only submit a CV, your application may not be considered.

Please DO NOT include any personal details (name, address etc) on your supporting statement.

Closing date: Sunday 24th May 2026 at midnight

Interview date: Thursday 4th June 2026

Please note that applications received after the closing deadline may not be considered. The Trust regrets that it is unable to
give feedback on unsuccessful applications.
