Why not join us as a Welfare and Wellbeing Officer? This is a part-time role, working 22.2 hours per week, term-time only (39 weeks per year).

As this is a term-time only position, the expected start date of this role will be September 2026.

Our Welfare and Wellbeing team work across all of our campuses within Weston-super-Mare.

Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at one of our college campuses in Weston-super-Mare.

As a Welfare and Wellbeing Officer, you will be responsible for providing effective welfare and mental health support, advice and guidance to all learners.

You will work closely with curriculum teams to identify and support students who are 'at risk of leaving' and implement and follow through action plans to ensure the student can improve their attendance and remain on their programme of study.

You will also provide advice and guidance to other staff across the college on welfare and mental health issues.

As a Welfare and Wellbeing Officer you will need to maintain links with specialist external agencies, develop effective referral systems and be willing to attend external meetings, training and events on behalf of Weston College.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Experience in giving advice on and dealing with welfare issues and supporting positive mental health.
  • Experience working with and supporting young people.
  • A student focussed approach to work.
  • Motivation, enthusiasm and a professional approach.
