The Elderly therapy team at Royal Derby Hospital are looking to appoint a motivated Generic Therapy Assistant Practitioner with a passion for Elderly Medicine care.

Applications are invited from those with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Previous experience as an Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy orGeneric Therapy support worker, in an acute inpatient setting is an essential part of this role.

Candidates are required to hold an NVQ level 3, Level 3 Senior Health Care Support Worker apprenticeship and/or relevant therapy Band 3/4 Assistant competencies.

As an Assistant Practitioner you will hold a varied clinical, ward based caseload in an acute multidisciplinary setting and take a lead on discharge planning.

The service is required to work a set pattern of hours that includes Bank Holidays.
• Support Elderly Medicine Therapy Team and work alongside Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists and other Support Workers
• Assessment and treatment, to include patients with a wide variety of conditions across Medicine within a competency framework•
• Close MDT working and discharge planning in a fast paced environment.
• Contribute to supporting Student Therapists on placement
• Plan and prioritise own caseload

We are a friendly and supportive team who can offer:
• Support from Therapy Leads and Senior therapists within the team, including regular clinical supervision.
• Supported to provide high quality patient care including basic assessment and treatment to a caseload of patients.
• PT/OT joint working.
• Support to attend appropriate in-service training opportunities and courses to maintain competencies and to achieve personal development plans.
• Trust commitment to CPD, demonstrated by yearly appraisal.
