Reports to: Speech and Language Therapist (SLT)
We are looking for a dynamic speech and language therapy assistant to work within our very exciting Transcend team.
You will be supported by 2 x very senior therapists and work across a multidisciplinary team with various partners including Merseycare and LUFHT.

The role works largely remotely but also requires a small amount of hybrid work as necessary.
• Support qualified SLTs in the delivery of therapy and care to Trans gender and non-binary service users.
• Deliver specified SLT interventions under the supervision of an SLT, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and affirming therapeutic environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Carry out delegated speech and language therapy programmes for individuals or groups, as planned by the supervising SLT.
• Adapt therapy materials as instructed to meet needs of service users.
• Observe and report service users' responses to therapy or interventions to the supervising SLT, using judgment on when to escalate or seek support.
• Communicate with service users using empathy, reassurance, and tact, overcoming barriers related to speech and language.
• Support service users in understanding communication and voice goals in gender affirming care and provide information about SLT approaches for gender affirming voice.
• Be flexible in working remotely and in clinic locations when indicated.
• Participate in relevant multidisciplinary discussions, respecting confidentiality.
• Maintain accurate records of all work carried out in line with service policies and ensure data protection.
• Support caseload management and organise therapy appointments and assist with the preparation of resources for sessions.
• Receive regular support and supervision, recognising the boundaries of own role and expertise.
