Summary

2 P/T Female Personal Assistant support worker / Drivers
to a Lady in Ochiltree , funded by ILF

10 hours – per week per worker

7 days per week need covered , between 2 workers, shifts will be 3hrs per shift – week 1, 3 days, week 2, 4 days,
On a rota taking turns of one weekend on and one off

Times to be discussed at interview

Also required to assist covering other staff Annual Leave

Salary
Living wage rate - £13.45 per hour
Job Purpose
To work closely and flexibly with a Lady who has MS to ensure she is appropriately supported with her day to day needs. She has homecare staffing 4 times a day to assist with her personal care.
This role is for companionship, helping her with eating her meals . Taking her out in her wheelchair adapted vehicle
To participate in a full range of opportunities in her life and to continue to develop and follow her hobbies and interests, when she is able to go out.
Employer
You will be employed by the family, who will be assisted to administer payroll and undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities by a relevant support organisation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Personalise as required Being flexible is a key component to this job and you will be guided by the her and her husband about the particular tasks and activities she requires help with and wants to participate in at particular times and you are expected to support her choices.
You may be required to work in the evening on occasions .You will at times be required to provide companionship in her own home.
Training The lady uses a manual wheelchair, you will be required to push the chair or assist her in the wheelchair accessible car, which is manual drive. Family will train you how to get the chair in and out of the car safely.

Demonstrable experience of supporting people to fulfil their potential and have active lives.
Knowledge & Skills
Clean Drivers licence
An understanding of how to support and facilitate in a way that empowers the person.
Good interpersonal skills and values reflecting social inclusion.
Excellent and effective communication skills.
Excellent listening skills.
Good organisational skills.
Understands the crucial role that family carers play and the value of their contribution.

Must have
Working knowledge of good person-centred practice.


Experience
Can draw on lived experience of positively supporting someone as a peer or similar.
Can engage effectively and work in partnership with others.

Personal Qualities
She is looking to recruit 2 people .
She is looking for someone with a good sense of humour, down to earth, likes a good blether and a bit of banter but is also a good listener.
Must be dog friendly as family have 2 friendly labradors
Other You must have a full clean UK driving licence and be able to drive a manual car .
You must be physically fit as there is the need to assist getting the wheelchair into the car, as well as push the manual chair outside .
You must have a good sense of humour.
The Persons interests are:
Watching TV
Going out for walks with her Labradors, in her wheelchair
Going for a drive
Out for a cuppa / cake
The successful applicants will have to undergo a new PVG Disclosure (or update), at the employer’s expense and supply 2 reference contacts prior to appointment and undergo relevant training.
There is a 6-month probationary period attached to these posts with 1 weeks’ notice within that time if the post does not work out.
