Secondary Teaching Assistant – Full‑time, long‑term temporary and ongoing from as soon as possible
This Secondary Teaching Assistant role offers the opportunity to work full time within a supportive secondary school environment where clear expectations, consistency, and positive relationships underpin daily practice. The Secondary Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to support learning, behaviour, and engagement, particularly with male students. This is an excellent opportunity for a Secondary Teaching Assistant seeking a long‑term, ongoing role.
Duties as Secondary Teaching Assistant:
- Provide classroom support for secondary‑aged pupils across lessons
- Support learning on a one‑to‑one or small group basis as directed by teaching staff
- Assist in engaging male students and supporting positive behaviour strategies
- Help maintain clear routines and expectations within the classroom
- Support pupils’ academic progress, confidence, and independence
- Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources
- Monitor pupil engagement and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal Secondary Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school setting
- Experience supporting male students is highly desirable
- Calm, confident, and consistent approach to behaviour support
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive and respectful relationships with pupils
- Willingness to commit to a full‑time, long‑term temporary and ongoing role
- Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
- Commitment to promoting pupil well‑being and engagement
