Personal Assistant– 2:1 Support for a Young Boy

Hello, my son is a wonderful 6-year-old boy, called Riley, and I am looking for a kind, patient, and reliable person to support him with his daily needs.

Riley is a happy little boy with complex needs. He is non-verbal, autistic, and has learning difficulties. He also has epilepsy (well controlled with medication), PICA, and a low immune system, meaning he can become unwell easily.

Riley requires 2:1 support to ensure his safety and wellbeing at all times. We are also a growing family, Riley has an older brother, and we are expecting a new baby soon, so having the right support in place is really important for all of us.

He requires full support with all aspects of personal care, including continence care, as he wears pads and needs complete assistance with changing and cleaning.

Riley loves being outdoors and enjoys simple pleasures such as:

Car journeys
Trips to the park
Swimming
Caravan holidays, especially visits to Flamingo Land

He is happiest outside and will often giggle when content. He prefers his own company and does not currently interact with other children.

Due to frustration with being non-verbal, Riley can sometimes become overwhelmed and may lash out or hurt himself (for example, biting himself). He needs someone calm, reassuring, and understanding who can help regulate his emotions and keep him safe.

The right person will:

Be patient, caring, and attentive
Have experience with autism or complex needs (preferred but not essential)
Be confident supporting a non-verbal child
Be comfortable with personal care
Be able to stay calm in challenging situations
Be willing to learn communication methods such as Makaton (Riley is still learning)

This role is incredibly rewarding and would suit someone who truly wants to make a difference in a child’s life and support a busy, loving family.

If you feel you could be the right fit for Riley, I would love to hear from you.
