Role Overview
As a Plant Fitter, you’ll play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and inspecting a wide range of heavy plant and machinery. You’ll ensure our equipment is safe, reliable, and ready to support operations across multiple sites. This role suits someone who thrives in a hands on environment, enjoys problem solving, and takes pride in high quality workmanship.
️ Key Responsibilities
• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on heavy plant equipment (e.g., excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers).
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults efficiently and accurately.
• Conduct pre hire inspections and ensure all machinery meets safety and compliance standards.
• Respond to breakdowns on-site and provide timely, effective repairs to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
• Work collaboratively with the Plant Manager and site teams to prioritise workloads.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with company safety procedures and industry regulations.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Plant & Fleet department.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
• Proven experience as a Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of heavy plant machinery and associated systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals and interpret diagnostic information.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong problem solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
• Commitment to safe working practices.
Desirable:
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience working within construction, plant or civil engineering environments.
