Are you a skilled technician looking to take the next step in your career with a leading organisation in the rail rolling stock industry? We are recruiting for a permanent Rail Technician to join a high-performing team based at Allerton Depot, playing a vital role in maintaining and improving the reliability of a modern passenger fleet.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting chance to work on some of the UKs most advanced trains, where no two days are the same. Youll be at the forefront of fault finding, diagnostics, and technical problem-solving, ensuring trains remain safe, reliable, and available for passenger service.
Working within a fast-paced depot environment, youll use your technical expertise to investigate and resolve faults across a range of systems, including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment. Using diagnostic software, test equipment, and engineering schematics, youll identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions to keep the fleet performing at its best.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose and rectify faults across electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Carry out detailed root cause analysis to identify recurring issues and support long-term solutions.
- Interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics with confidence.
- Utilise diagnostic software and specialist test equipment to investigate and resolve technical problems.
- Perform repairs, modifications, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Contribute to fleet reliability, availability, and overall operational performance.
- Work collaboratively with engineering and maintenance teams to deliver high standards of service.

What Were Looking For

To be successful in this role, youll ideally have:

- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across multiple systems.
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- Proficiency with diagnostic software, testing, and measuring equipment.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent problem-solving abilities.
Working Hours

This role requires flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including:

- Days and nights
- Weekends
- Operational depot-based shifts
