Summary

The successful candidates will hold key roles in the TV Team. The team is responsible for a wide range of high profile policy areas including supporting the UK broadcasting sectors to adapt and succeed in a rapidly changing media environment, engaging with public service and international broadcasters and on-demand providers, and ensuring appropriate regulation and protections for audiences.

The TV Team sits within the wider Media and International Directorate (MINT) which covers a broad range of work on sectors including: TV, radio, press, and advertising; as well as having a key role leading the department’s international work.

These are varied and fast-paced roles focused on a a range of topical and reactive issues concerning television in the UK, often at fast pace and with significant political interest and exposure.

Post holders will support policy development, including working towards potential legislation, on issues such as protecting audiences from harmful content; supporting the future sustainability of our public service media; the future role of content regulation in the television, video-on-demand, and online sectors such as YouTube; and policy relating to broadcasting mergers.

Post holders will also help manage the Team’s relationships with a number of high-profile TV stakeholders. This may include broadcasters such as Sky; public service media providers such as ITV and Channel 4; global tech platforms; TV manufacturers and video-on-demand providers such as Disney and Netflix.
