An opportunity has arisen in our Older People’s Inpatient Services for an Assistant Psychologist. Rotherham Older People’s Inpatient Services comprises of the Willows Ward, a 15 bed unit for those experiencing acute mental health difficulties (for example, depression, psychosis) or dementia. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of a Qualified Practitioner Psychologist, assisting the qualified psychologists in a variety of duties. This will include supporting the implementation of formulation based care, providing psychoeducational or psychological interventions to individuals, their relatives or carers and the staff team under close supervision, conducting assessments and helping to analyse data (e.g., behaviour charts) which will help with the delivery of psychological provision on the ward.

We are passionate about providing high quality support to service users and influencing the wider delivery of care across all of our teams.We welcome interest from enthusiastic and well organised applicants, with some experience of working within a clinical setting and an interest in working with older people.

To assist and support the work of the Practitioner Psychologists in developing psychological formulations and delivering psycho-educational or psychologically informed interventions to patients, carers or other members of the system, and contributing to audit and data collection for service users with a diverse range of complex mental health presentations and comorbidities. This will include direct and indirect contact with service users and their carers, along with liaison with the multidisciplinary team and referrers/agencies as required.
