Summary

Temporary Deputy Manager – Complex Mental Health Supported Living Service

Location: Hull

Salary: £31,721.94 pa, pro rata

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (6-month contract, possibly lead to longer or perm role)

Job Description

We are looking for a committed and resilient Deputy Manager to join a supported living service in Hull, supporting adults with complex mental health needs and substance misuse challenges. The service empowers individuals to work towards independence, stability, and recovery in a safe and structured environment.

You will support the Service Manager in leading a skilled staff team and ensuring high-quality, person-centred support. You’ll play a key role in overseeing risk management, care planning, and safeguarding.

This is not a typical 9–5 role. Due to the nature of the service and the complex needs of clients, flexibility is essential. You’ll need to be adaptable, emotionally resilient, and confident in managing challenging situations.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting with service management, compliance, and day-to-day operations
Leading and supervising support staff, promoting a positive team culture
Coordinating and reviewing individualised support plans and risk assessments
Building effective relationships with external agencies and professionals
Responding to crisis situations using trauma-informed, psychologically informed approaches
Supporting recruitment, staff development, and quality improvement
Essential Experience

Working with adults with complex mental health and/or substance misuse needs
Managing risk and challenging behaviours
Supervising or leading staff
A flexible, person-centred approach
Desirable

Experience working with individuals who display complex behaviours
