The Directorate of Vascular Surgery currently comprises 15 surgeons working flexibly to support the network. With this and additional appointments the number will raise to 18. Each consultant has an elective job plan which involves sessions at one of our network sites, in addition to sessions at the Aintree site Hub. A total of 16 Consultants will contribute to the acute/on-call work and they participate in complementary “C1” and “C2” rotas during which they are free of any elective commitments.
Friday afternoon is set aside as a Directorate session which begins with the forthcoming weekly plan at 1.30 and a review of all inpatients and patients requiring urgent surgery. The rest of the afternoon consists of a rolling programme of audit, teaching, clinical governance, directorate meetings, research presentations and invited guest lectures.
The successful applicant will become part of the Peripheral/General vascular team with a total of 10 Consultants contributing. They will undertake work at both Aintree University Hospital and one of the network spoke sites. They will participate in the daytime C1 rota at Aintree.
