Job Purpose
To lead and support the care team in delivering outstanding person-centred care to residents while promoting dignity, independence, choice, and wellbeing. The Senior Care Assistant is responsible for overseeing care delivery within their designated area, administering medication, supervising Care Assistants, and ensuring residents receive the highest standard of care in line with CQC regulations and Logini Group values. In the absence of the Home Manager or Deputy Manager, the Senior Care Assistant may assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the home.
The Hollies provides residential care for up to 29 residents aged 65 and over, including those living with dementia, with a strong focus on creating a safe, caring, and “home from home” environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
* Lead, motivate, and support Care Assistants during each shift.
* Delegate duties appropriately and monitor staff performance.
* Provide guidance, mentoring, and practical support to junior staff.
* Conduct shift handovers and communicate effectively with colleagues.
* Ensure staffing resources are utilised effectively to meet residents’ needs.
* Promote teamwork and maintain a positive working environment.
Resident Care
* Deliver and oversee high-quality personal care including bathing, dressing, continence care, mobility support, and personal hygiene.
* Ensure care is delivered in accordance with individual care plans and risk assessments.
* Support residents in maintaining independence and making choices about their daily lives.
* Promote residents’ dignity, privacy, rights, and wellbeing at all times.
* Provide emotional support and companionship to residents and their families.
Medication Management
* Administer medication safely and accurately in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
* Maintain medication administration records (MAR charts).
* Monitor residents for side effects or concerns and report appropriately.
* Ensure medication is stored, handled, and disposed of safely.
Care Planning & Documentation
* Participate in the development, implementation, and review of person-centred care plans.
* Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing and update records accordingly.
* Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation.
* Report any changes in residents’ physical, emotional, or mental health to management and healthcare professionals.
* Complete incident, accident, safeguarding, and daily care records as required.
Health, Safety & Safeguarding
* Ensure compliance with CQC standards, Health & Safety legislation, and safeguarding procedures.
* Identify and report safeguarding concerns immediately.
* Promote infection prevention and control measures.
* Ensure safe moving and handling practices are followed.
* Respond effectively to emergencies and incidents.
Communication
* Develop positive relationships with residents, relatives, visitors, and healthcare professionals.
* Act as a key point of contact for families regarding residents’ wellbeing.
* Liaise with GPs, district nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
* Handle concerns and complaints professionally and escalate when necessary.
Activities & Wellbeing
* Encourage residents to participate in activities and social events.
* Support meaningful engagement that promotes physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing.
* Contribute to maintaining the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the home.

Person Specification
Essential Requirements
* NVQ/QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
* Previous experience working in a residential care home environment.
* Experience supervising or leading a care team.
* Medication administration competency.
* Good understanding of dementia care and person-centred care practices.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
* Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check.
* Right to work in the UK.
