Summary


Are you an enthusiastic, passionate, and highly motivated individual eager to make a difference? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our brand new/ Occupational Therapy rehabilitation and relapse prevention focused team
• You will work as a senior therapy assistant within a new and emerging rehabilitation service both in the community
• You will support the Occupational Therapist in delivering person-centred interventions and feedback any relevant information concerning service users and carers.
• You will be part of a client-centred service where the needs of the individual will determine the intervention. This will mean that the successful postholder will work to engage service users across a variety of therapeutic interventions such as psychoeducation, cooking, shopping, social eating and relaxation. These interventions may be carried out in groups or on an individual basis via face-to-face contact and/or virtually.
• You will be working both in the PARALEL team’s office and in the persons local community
• You will need to plan ahead and prepare for group and 1:1 interventions but remain flexible and adaptable based on service user needs and preferences.

· You will need to use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

· You will record clinical documentation in a timely and organised manner.
• You will work as part of our small team to help set up a service to ensure a seamless and supportive care experience for every individual.
• You will need to demonstrate a good understanding of eating disorders, mental health conditions and Occupational Therapy

Experience of this type of work is desirable but experience of working with people with eating disorders, aptitude and motivation are considered to be essential qualities in providing the high standards of service that this post demands.

The Senior Therapy Assistant will take responsibility for the management of a defined group of patients that are discharged from Oaktrees Specialist Eating Disorder Service (SEDU). The post holder will work within a comprehensive and high-quality Occupational Therapy and rehabilitation service for a period of 16 weeks, alongside the community eating disorder service. Following triage and assessment by a qualified therapist the post holder will independently implement interventions, assess progression of a person-centred treatment plan and evaluate the treatment

This service is aimed at maximising recovery and maintaining optimum levels of everyday skills.

This service includes assessment and treatment in the areas of activities of daily living, lifelong leisure pursuits, educational and vocational pursuits, social inclusion and improved nutrition. Positive co-production is used to support and facilitate a person-centred recovery journey.

To feedback to qualified therapists as appropriate.

3 days per week. Hours to be negotiated within Monday to Friday daytime service. Thursday will be the fixed day.

Post is part time 22.5 hours per week
