Teaching Assistant Level 2 (STF/Mainstream)Part-time, Temporary (until further notice)Start Date: 1 September 2026SalaryGrade 4 SCP 5–6 (£25,583 – £25,989 pro rata)Actual starting salary: £16,392 per annumWorking Hours27.5 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks per year)About the RoleBirchgrove Comprehensive School is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our Additional Learning Needs (ALN) team, supporting pupils within our Specialist Teaching Facility (STF) and mainstream classrooms.Working under the guidance of teaching staff, you will play a key role in enabling pupils to access learning, promoting inclusion and supporting their academic, social and emotional development.Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will:Provide targeted support to pupils, including those with additional learning needs, ensuring their safety and engagement in learningAssist in the implementation of individual education, behaviour and personal care plansSupport teaching staff in delivering planned learning activitiesMonitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachersPromote positive behaviour and support pupils’ social developmentContribute to a purposeful, inclusive and supportive learning environmentSupport the use of ICT and learning resources within lessonsSupervise pupils during non-classroom times and on school visits where requiredWhat We Are Looking ForWe are looking for a candidate who:Has experience working with children of a relevant ageHolds an NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience)Has strong literacy, numeracy and communication skillsIs able to work both independently and as part of a teamCan build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parentsIs committed to inclusion and supporting learners with additional needsExperience of working with pupils with additional learning needs is desirable.How to Apply - Please see the attached Information PackBirchgrove Comprehensive School is a welcoming and inclusive school community committed to providing the best outcomes for all learners.
