These flexible opportunities are ideal for support staff who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. These roles include supporting pupils in Finchley and the surrounding areas, helping them access learning and develop essential social, emotional, and academic skills.
Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND
- Assist teachers in delivering differentiated and accessible learning activities
- Help implement individual education plans and personalised strategies
- Support pupils with communication, behavioural, sensory, or cognitive needs
- Promote a positive, calm, and inclusive learning environment
- Assist pupils with personal care tasks when required
- Monitor and record pupil progress and share observations with staff
- Contribute to wider school routines during longer-term placements
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND
- Understanding of strategies for autism, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLCN, and other needs
- Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Confident implementing behaviour management and de-escalation approaches
- Adaptable across key stages and varied educational settings
- Professional, reliable, and proactive
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils
