Duties as Design Technology Teacher:
- Deliver engaging and well-structured Design Technology lessons using pre-planned materials
- Teach Design Technology across Key Stage 3 and, where required, Key Stage 4
- Support pupils in developing practical, creative, and problem-solving skills
- Maintain a safe, organised, and well-managed classroom or workshop environment
- Follow school behaviour policies, routines, and safeguarding procedures
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities
- Manage practical activities confidently, ensuring health and safety standards are upheld
- Provide clear feedback and handover notes for permanent staff
- Represent Step Teachers professionally while working as a Design Technology Teacher
Ideal Design Technology Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Design Technology in a secondary school setting
- Strong subject knowledge across Design Technology specialisms
- Confidence managing practical lessons and classroom behaviour
- A flexible, reliable, and adaptable approach to supply teaching
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Willingness to work across different school environments
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
- A positive and professional attitude as a Design Technology Teacher
