Are you passionate about preparing learners with SEND for greater independence and employment? We are seeking a skilled and committed SEND Lecturer with strong expertise in Independent Living Skills, employability, and RARPA‑based provision, working with learners from pre entry through to Entry Level 3.
About the Role
You will deliver high‑quality, personalised teaching to learners with a wide range of special educational needs and/or disabilities, supporting them to develop the practical life skills, confidence and employability behaviours needed for adulthood.
Teaching will focus on non‑accredited and accredited pathways, using RARPA principles to plan, evidence and assess meaningful progress. Learners may be working towards independence, supported employment, vocational progression or community participation.
You will be part of a supportive SEND team and will work closely with learning support staff, employers, and external partners to ensure learning is relevant, purposeful and aspirational.
Key Responsibilities

- Deliver engaging SEND provision focused on independent living and employment skills
- Teach learners across a wide ability range, from pre entry to Entry Level 3
- Plan and deliver programmes using RARPA to identify starting points and measure progress
- Support learners to develop skills such as communication, self‑care, travel training, money skills, teamwork and work readiness
- Embed employability skills and Preparing for Adulthood outcomes into learning
- Act as a tutor, providing pastoral and progression support
- Monitor learner progress, attendance and destination outcomes
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, employers and external agencies

What We’re Looking For
You will have experience of delivering Independent Living Skills and/or Employability provision to learners with SEND and be confident working across different ability levels.
You will need:

- Strong experience of RARPA planning, delivery and assessment
- Experience teaching learners from pre entry to Entry Level
- Knowledge of Preparing for Adulthood and employment pathways
- Experience and implementation of Trauma Informed Practice and Positive Behaviour Support
- Level 2 literacy and numeracy (GCSE or equivalent)
- A recognised teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one
- Strong communication, organisation and relationship‑building skills
- A positive, flexible and learner‑centred approach
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusion

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support learners to build independence, confidence and real‑world skills for life and work.
