Summary
Clinical Duties Perform venepuncture procedures to obtain blood samples from patients. Identify patients correctly and confirm specimen requirements before collection. Label specimens accurately and complete all relevant documentation. Prepare and package samples for transportation to the laboratory. Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times. Monitor patients during and after procedures and respond appropriately to adverse reactions such as dizziness or fainting. Provide clear explanations and reassurance to patients regarding blood tests. Carry out samples during sample time Administrative Duties Manage phlebotomy appointments and patient flow within clinics. Maintain accurate patient records and update clinical systems as required. Ensure laboratory request forms and electronic requests are completed correctly. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in line with data protection requirements. Communicate effectively with GPs, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
