Summary


We are currently advertising for a Porter to work in our busy and friendly Pathology department.

You will be directly responsible for the receipt, checking and storage of goods received into the Pathology Store as well as the dispatch of orders.

The post holder will be required to place regular and timely orders that replenish and maintain stock levels. The role is also key in the receiving of stock on delivery days and transferring stock to the main store or requesting departments within Pathology. The maintenance of stock control is required by auditing volume used and balancing stock in and out responding to variations in demand.

The post involves manual handling of heavy loads on a regular basis and receiving of bulk orders on a schedule. You will need to be fit and physically able to carry out tasks such as, lifting and carrying and to be able to make judgements involving job related situations e.g. delivery routes, refrigerated good.

The majority of this work will be carried out independently.

Main duties include but are not limited to:

· Receipt of orders- Bulk and adhoc.

· Creating regular and adhoc orders for Pathology consumables.

· Managing and maintaining stock levels in the pathology stores by performing weekly stocktakes.

· Handling of heavy loads.

· To support with manual handling tasks across pathology.

· To clear large waste bins and sharps bin in accordance to the trust policy and procedures.
• Organise own day to day work to take account of urgent deliveries and collections.
• Checking and filing delivery notes.
