About me A young person with ADHD and autism is seeking a compassionate and patient Personal Assistant to provide support with social, leisure, and community-based activities. The client communicates using signing and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and enjoys an active lifestyle, including ten-pin bowling, roller skating, tennis, cycling, football, gym activities, and spending time outdoors in nature.
The client also experiences sensory needs and may have preferences around certain clothing items and environments. When feeling distressed or overwhelmed, they benefit from being given time and space to process emotions and regulate calmly. The ideal PA will be understanding, adaptable, and confident supporting communication and social interaction in a positive and encouraging way.
Hours and rate of pay 3 hours per week during school holidays
1.5 hours per week during term time
Days and times are flexible and can be negotiated for the right candidate
£14.00 – £19.00 per hour depending on experience
Location St Albans (AL1)
DBS/Checks Confirmation of DBS check
Right to Work and references will be needed.
Training Training will be offered to enable to complete the mandatory training required:
• Safeguarding Adults
• Introduction to first aid
• Health and Safety
What you would be doing…
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience supporting children or teenagers with SEND needs
Be compassionate, patient, calm, and reliable
Enjoy outdoor and leisure activities
Be confident supporting communication and social development
Be able to build a positive and trusting relationship
A driver with access to their own vehicle would be ideal to support access to activities and the community.
