Summary
Job Purpose/Summary To work as a member of the General Practice Nursing team, under the guidance of a Registered General Nurse, support the organisation and facilitation of clinical care in a holistic and proactive manner to patients registered at the member practices. To maintain a high professional standard of nursing care in adherence to all Practice protocols, policies & guidelines, as well as to provide nursing assistance to the GPs and other members of the primary healthcare team. The role of the Nurse Associate needs to be flexible in line with the present atmosphere for change within the health service delivery. It is essential that the Nurse Associate works within their own level of competency and expands her/his role in accordance with practice requirements and own scope of practice. Key Responsibilities: You will provide continuing direct and indirect care to patients across the practice population Provide clinical observations, ECGs, BPs etc as well flu and other routine vaccinations Assist in wound care management following patient care plans Support patients to improve and maintain their mental and physical health and wellbeing, including Learning Disability reviews Participate in cytology once appropriately trained and deemed competent Participate in childhood vaccinations once appropriately trained and deemed competent Administer travel vaccinations once appropriately trained and deemed competent Participate in ear irrigation once appropriately trained and deemed competent Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex scenarios. Demonstrate an ability to work under pressure, prioritising workload effectively. Demonstrate an ability to use a problem-solving approach within limits of your competence. Chaperone patients when required Assist with the co-ordination of Infection Control policy and audit Demonstrate an ability to provide holistic patient centred care Work in a solution-focused way as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Promote holistic healthcare and work in partnership with other agencies. Can participate in stock audits and ordering of stock Access and participate in supervision of student nurses and other trainees on completion of your training. Identify and take appropriate action/make appropriate referrals in any situation where there may be vulnerability, safeguarding or health concerns Education, Training & Development: Understands and demonstrates the characteristics of a role model to members in the team and/or service Demonstrates understanding of the mentorship process and will participate in annual appraisals Demonstrates ability to conduct teaching and assessment effectively according to a learning plan with supervision from more experience colleagues Demonstrates self-development through continuous professional development activity and maintain own portfolio of professional development
