About Us:
Forge Genetics is a growing biotechnology company offering strain development and fermentation services while innovating genetic tools. With a small, dynamic team of around 12 people, we’re searching for an Operations Manager to ensure our day-to-day operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Role Overview:
As the Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our company. This multi-faceted position involves laboratory logistics, financial management, administrative duties, business development, and HR functions. You will be the go-to person for "everything else," ensuring the company operates effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
Lab Logistics and Financial Management: Oversee purchasing, manage budgets, handle orders and payments, and ensure timely delivery of lab supplies.

Administrative Duties: Manage company insurance, book travel, and organize internal and external meetings.

Business Development: Identify and coordinate attendance at industry conferences.

Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and maintain workplace safety protocols.

HR Functions: Handle recruitment, onboarding, and other HR-related tasks.

IT and Infrastructure: Manage basic IT needs and coordinate with external support to ensure smooth technological operations.

Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Customer-Facing Tasks: Arrange meeting times with customers and act as a point of contact to improve client interactions.

Internal Communications: Organize team meetings, updates, and documentation to ensure effective communication across the company.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in laboratory management, operations management, or working as an Administrative Assistant, Executive Assistant, Chief of Staff, Founder’s Associate, or in a similar generalist role.

Alternatively we explicitly welcome and will consider applicants with an academic or practical background in microbiology/life sciences who want to transition away from the bench and into a business operations career. In this case the prior experience listed above is not an absolute requirement.

Familiarity with microbiology is a strong plus.
