Summary
The work is varied and interesting, and involves taking pride and ownership of one third of the Borough for the coordination and administration of the London Permit Scheme including; assessment of permit applications, electronic administration of comments, inspections, defects and associated charges, identify and seek resolution of inaccuracies in data and work closely with a Street Works Inspector to ensure that all aspects of relevant legislation are met. You will also play an active role in dealing with emergencies that may affect the highway and the residents of Bexley.
An understanding of the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA), the London Permit Scheme (LoPS) and the Traffic Management Act would be a definite advantage. Experience in coordination or an operational technical support environment is desirable, although training will be provided. Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential as you will be liaising with colleagues, other departments, utility companies and members of the public daily.
The candidate should have versatile IT skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as well as being able to adapt to a range of bespoke IT system and databases. You will be required to show initiative and work on your own as well as part of a team.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to be office based 5 days a week until established into role, then likely to be required to be office based at least 3 days a week.
