Crynodeb

We are working with a growing manufacturing business looking to appoint a Buyer / Purchasing Officer to take ownership of day-to-day purchasing, supplier management, and materials control within a fast-paced engineering environment.

This is a hybrid role that combines hands-on procurement with elements of stores coordination, compliance support, and supplier relationship management. It would suit someone who is confident working with MRP systems and enjoys a varied role where no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase all components, materials, and consumables using an in-house MRP system
  • Manage supplier relationships and negotiate with key vendors
  • Oversee procurement of recurring services including utilities, maintenance, and contracts
  • Support supply and demand planning to ensure material availability
  • Work closely with warehouse and stores teams to manage goods-in and stock flow
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and pricing data
  • Support day-to-day compliance with ISO9001 and health & safety processes
  • Liaise with external contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve purchasing efficiency
    About You
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a purchasing or buying role
    • Strong understanding of supply chain and procurement processes
    • Experience using MRP/ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Sage, Epicor, or similar)
    • Confident building and maintaining supplier relationships
    • Commercially aware with a good understanding of cost control and demand planning
    • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
    • Comfortable working in a manufacturing or engineering environment (desirable)
    • Knowledge of ISO9001 or regulated environments would be an advantage
      What’s on Offer
      • Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum
      • 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)
      • 3% employer pension contribution
      • Opportunity to join a growing and innovative manufacturing business
      • Varied role with exposure across procurement, stores, and operations
      • Long-term development potential within supply chain and purchasing
        Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity for a Buyer or Procurement professional looking to step into a more autonomous role within a growing engineering business. You’ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth flow of materials and services that support production and ongoing business growth.

        GRA1
