Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
• Support pupils with SEND on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
• To keep relevant and informative records of progress made in line with the school’s record keeping policy.
• Help pupils develop social, emotional, and communication skills.
• Adapt learning materials and classroom activities to meet individual needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and promote inclusion within the classroom.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
• Support pupils with personal care or medical needs where required.
• Assist with classroom preparation and maintaining a safe learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, therapists, and external professionals.
• Promote safeguarding and follow school policies and procedures at all times.
• To carry out specific duties related to the needs of the child e.g. child in a wheelchair needing to be taken to the toilet / to support the child at playtimes if social skills and forming friendships are a problem.
• Be willing to participate in programmes or activities which are beneficial for their child e.g. motor skills, speech and language
• To prepare materials as required
• Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
• Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
• Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
• Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
• Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
