Crynodeb
Skin diseases affect at least 20% of the population and over 15% of GP consultations relate to problems with skin. Dermatology is predominantly an out-patient based specialty. STs will learn whilst working under the supervision of a consultant. Duties include attending outpatient clinics, performing skin surgery, reviewing urgent out-patients and ward patients, supervision of the daily care of in-patients and attending ward rounds if necessary and completing associated administration in a thorough and timely manner. The clinic attachments may vary but there will be a mixture of general, specialised and surgical clinics as well as administration time. There are 2 vocational GP trainees and an academic FY1 attached to Dermatology at any one time. Trainees are allocated a specified rota but work together to ensure that clinics and workload are appropriately covered.
