Summary

You will be responsible for the acute oversight and intrapartum care provision for women and birthing people in Southampton, operating 24 hours a day, year-round. UHS is a tertiary level maternity service with a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit specialising in extremes of prematurity, fetal cardiac and surgical patients. We are looking for those midwives who are passionate about high and low risk care, and who are ready to the next step in their clinical and leadership development. As a Birth Environments Coordinator, you will also provide support to the existing Labour Ward Coordinators and Broadlands Birth Centre Shift Leads, flexible midwives who bring a wide range of midwifery expertise across all areas of the maternity service, NEST midwives who deliver case loading care to vulnerable women and birthing people, and preceptee midwives who are in the process of consolidating their training following qualification. What you will do: As a dynamic and enthusiastic leader, you will be required to support and develop your team. You will act as a clinical expert and resource for the multi-disciplinary team. You will also be required to act as a professional advocate for both the staff, women and birthing people on Labour Ward and Broadlands Birth Centre. You will be proficient in maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the broader service implications for the ongoing management of effective patient flow throughout the intrapartum environments. The successful candidate will be: An excellent communicator who can adapt their communication skills according to the audience. Flexible and adaptable in their approach to coordinating the intrapartum environments , dependent upon the changing situation across the maternity service. A positive role model with a good level of self-awareness and personal resilience. An effective negotiator with strong problem solving and influencing skills.
