DragonTech Wales is looking for a Data Entry & Validation Assistant to work on the PACTO Transport Hub — a project run with the Pembrokeshire Association of Community Transport Organisations. The project aims to bring local public transport information together into one place so it is genuinely findable, accurate and usable.
Good, reliable data is what makes the whole thing work — and that’s where you’d come in.
This is contracted work engaged through DragonTech Wales Ltd. For the right candidate, an alternative self-employed subcontracting arrangement can also be discussed.
---
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
What you’d be doing:
* Entering, checking and maintaining public transport data within the project systems
* Cross-referencing operator schedules, route information and timetables for accuracy
* Assisting with data normalisation to ensure information is consistently structured, named and formatted across different sources
* Maintaining ongoing data tracking against the project’s changing requirements, while flagging shortfalls, gaps or missed opportunities in the data we hold
* Testing the client-facing application and providing structured feedback on real-world usability and behaviour
* Flagging inconsistencies and helping improve the wider data validation process
* Working closely with the lead developer, including more intensive “sprint” weeks at key stages of the project
---
HOURS, PAY & WORKING PATTERN
* £13 per hour
* Approximately 22 hours per week during standard months
* Occasional busier periods during validation sprints
* Flexible working days and scheduling around availability where possible
* Predominantly remote working
* On-site work in Narberth required at least once per month, and occasionally more frequently depending on project needs
* Immediate start preferred
---
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Essential:
* Demonstrable knowledge of local public transport across Pembrokeshire and the surrounding area, including routes, operators and how services connect
* Above-average IT literacy and confidence using unfamiliar software and browser-based systems
* Ability to work comfortably with structured data and bespoke content management systems such as Directus
* Strong attention to detail and a careful, methodical approach to accuracy-critical work
* Reliable communication skills and the ability to work independently between check-ins
Desirable (training can be provided):
* Previous experience with data entry or data validation systems
* Familiarity with timetable, GTFS or transport scheduling data
* Experience working within a remote-first project environment
---
TRAINING & ONBOARDING
Full onboarding and training on the project’s systems will be provided.
The initial phase of the engagement includes a structured onboarding period covering:
* Environment setup
* System familiarisation
* Workflow and process alignment
You will not be expected to jump straight in without support.
---
OPEN TO EVERYONE
This position is open to applicants of any age legally entitled to work in the UK.
We are a small, flexible operation and want to hear from anyone the role may suit.
* If you have a disability, we are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments and tailor the role around your needs where possible.
* If you have family or caring commitments, we can work around them within the practical requirements of the role.
* If something about your circumstances makes you unsure whether the role could fit, please ask — we would rather have the conversation than have you rule yourself out.
We want to find the right person for the work, and we will do what we reasonably can to make the role workable for them.
---
HOW TO APPLY
Please send a CV and cover letter to:
richard@dragontechwales.com
In your cover letter, please outline:
* Why the role suits you
* Your knowledge of public transport in Pembrokeshire
* Your IT background
* Any experience with data entry, content management systems or web-based tools
We are a small operation, and all applications are read personally. You will hear back either way.
