Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker specializing in Children Looked After to join our committed team. This role is ideal for a compassionate professional passionate about making a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable children and young people. As an Experienced Social Worker, you will work closely with children who are in care, ensuring their welfare and safeguarding needs are met through comprehensive assessments, care planning, and direct intervention. You will collaborate with families, foster carers, and a wide range of multidisciplinary teams to promote positive outcomes for children, helping them achieve stability, safety, and wellbeing. The position requires a thorough understanding of statutory frameworks and current best practices related to child protection, as well as the ability to manage complex cases with sensitivity and professionalism. You will be expected to advocate for the children’s needs, support permanence planning, and contribute to continuous service improvement. Responsibilities
Conduct thorough assessments of children looked after and their families to identify needs and risks.
Develop and implement care plans that promote the health, wellbeing, and safety of children.
Collaborate with foster carers, guardians, and other professionals to provide coordinated support.
Advocate for children’s rights and needs within legal and social care settings.
Monitor and review the progress of children in care, adjusting plans as necessary.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in accordance with policy guidelines.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, court proceedings, and case conferences.
Provide guidance and supervision to less experienced social workers or students when required.
Requirements
Qualified and registered social worker with relevant professional accreditation.
Proven experience working with children looked after or in a similar child protection role.
Comprehensive knowledge of child welfare legislation, safeguarding policies, and best practices.
Strong assessment, planning, and decision-making skills in complex cases.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage effectively with children and families.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Resilience, empathy, and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children.
Competency in record-keeping, case management systems, and IT literacy.
