Project Controller - Solar Projects & O&M
Location: Chesterfield (hybrid) - regular UK-wide travel Reporting Line: Head of Projects Type: Permanent, Full Time
Role Overview
· Provide cost, programme, and performance control across C&I, ground mount solar, BESS, and O&M
· Act as single source of truth for cost and schedule performance
· Ensure delivery to budget, programme, and contractual targets
· Deliver clear, data-driven insight to Project Teams and SLT
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & pre-construction
· Develop CAPEX estimates, £/kWp benchmarks, and cost models
· Produce BoQs and estimate basis
· Support tenders and value engineering
Cost & Commercial Control
· Manage budgets, forecasts, and cash flow
· Lead CVR, EAC, and variance reporting
· Track costs, commitments, and margin performance
· Apply Earned Value (CPI/SPI) and flag risks early
Programme Control
· Develop and manage programmes (P6/MS Project)
· Monitor critical path, milestones, and progress vs plan
· Support delay analysis, recovery plans, and EOTs
Reporting & Risk
· Deliver weekly/monthly reports (cost, schedule, risk)
· Maintain risk and opportunity register
· Ensure data accuracy and reporting consistency
Change & Procurement
· Manage change control, variations, and claims
· Track procurement and long-lead items against plan
Integration
· Interface across PM, Commercial, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, O&M
· Ensure alignment between delivery, cost, and reporting
Person Specification
· Experience in Project Controls (EPC, infrastructure, or renewables)
· Strong in cost control, CVR, and programme management
· Advanced Excel, working knowledge of P6/MS Project
· Commercially astute, analytical, and detail-driven
· Confident communicator with strong ownership
Success Measures
· Accurate forecasting and reporting
· Protection of project margin and cash flow
· Early identification of risks and variances
· Consistent, controlled project delivery
