Summary
The following are the core responsibilities of the Practice Nurse in delivering health services. There may be, on occasion, be a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: This job description is not exhaustive. This role is continuously evolving and will be under review therefore the duties may vary. Support and on occasion lead with Infection Prevention Control (IPC) and work to the IPC policy Consult with patients and their families to undertake assessments of patient need Management of chronic disease Cervical Cytology Childhood Immunisation Administer a range of adult vaccinations Organise and support Practice Manager with the flu campaign Wound care ECGs Hypertension management Actively participate in achieving QoF and enhanced services targets and recall demands Understand EMIS and EMIS searches Participate in practice audit as directed by the Clinical Lead/Practice Manager Support and participate in shared learning within the practice To be an instrumental part of the clinical team attend regular nurse meetings Keep up to date with NICE guidelines as required Develop, review and implement nursing protocols in conjunction with the partners
